The Watershed Learning Center is a lively learning community where children explore together in a supportive, creative atmosphere.

OUR CHILDREN ARE UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS, each with a collection of talents and inclinations that must be allowed to develop.

We prize the individual child for the sake of his or her unique qualities. Rather than testing children, we create experiences for them in an environment of learning and growth.

We are keeping a list of interested older students ages 8 and up. Contact us for more information.

The Watershed Learning Center is a multi-age community of learners. Each child’s program of instruction and path to discovery is unique. We strive to inspire children to pursue their interests, we provide targeted resources and structure for them to do so, and we help the child record the experience, in whatever form appropriate, for their portfolio.

The Watershed School provides a context for student’s spontaneous growth and learning, as well as structure for organizing and understanding their journey.

We are keeping an interest list of upper grades and secondary students.

WHO WE ARE:

The principal staff of the Watershed Learning Center have been educators and childrens’ program professionals for many years. Their experience includes directing Free Spirit Nature Camp, and working in public schools and with Youth Service organizations in the Hudson Valley. The WLC project is a natural growth of our work with children. We believe that kids learn better outdoors, both literally and figuratively. We strive to infuse our understanding of ecology and appreciation for the natural world into all of our activities.
